About 90 volunteers from Hawaiian Electric helped to distribute some 2,000 free trees at six locations around Oahu as part of the annual Arbor Day celebration, held November 3.  The highly anticipated event promotes the environmental benefits of planting the right tree in the right place.  For Hawaiian Electric it’s also an opportunity to encourage safe tree planting, pruning and harvesting around our power lines.

Since 1993, more than 20,000 trees representing some 50 species have found their way into yards and gardens and onto the lanais of Hawaii’s residents through Hawaiian Electric’s Arbor Day Free Tree Giveaway.  Mahalo to our community partners in this sustainable effort:Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program, Urban Garden Center, Wahiawa Botanical Garden, and Waimea Valley.
