Hawaiian Electric Company is pleased to award an energy conservation kit to Autumn Ikemura as the latest winner of our Energy Detective pledge contest.  The cute-as-a-button student at Mililani Waean is just five years old but she already knows that opening the fridge too many times can waste energy.  Autumn and her sister Ellie, 7 years old, also were awarded a legacy tree certificate.  Through our donation and partnership with Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods reforestation initative, Autumn and Ellie will have a koa seedling planted in their honor.  As the tree grows, they can check on it using geographic coordinates and know that their tree will provide native habitat and sequester carbon from the global atmosphere year-round.  Our congratulations to Autumn and Ellie for helping to save energy and protect the planet!
